A hybrid taxon involving Salix caprea and Salix cinerea subsp. cinerea or Salix cinerea subsp. oleifolia. G.W.Carr, Fl. Vic. 3: 391 (1996) records backcrosses between S. x reichardtii and S. cinerea subsp. cinerea.
