Hybrids between Lolium rigidum and L. perenne are known from WA, Qld and Vic. P.S.Green, Fl. Australia 49: 451 (1994) treats Lolium rigidum var. rigidum as a distinct taxon on LHI and NI, along with L. rigidum var. rottboellioides (here treated as L. loliaceum).
