Domin (1927) unnecessarily re-made the combination Cupaniopsis flagelliformis, being unable to find it in Radlkofer (1924) ('an Radlk., sed ubi?'). Adema (1991) did not maintain the varieties in this species, but they are still recognised in current Australian lists.
