Infraspecific rank not recognised in SA and Tas. Hybrids between Senecio odoratus and Senecio hypoleucus occur in SA (I.R.Thompson, Muelleria 20: 88, 2004). Hybrids between Senecio odoratus and Senecio glomeratus and Senecio minimus have been recorded (I.R.Thompson, Muelleria 20: 89 (2004)).
