APC Comment
Some authors (e.g. C.E.Hubbard, Grasses 2nd edn, 309 (1968)) consider this taxon to be a hybrid, on the basis that it was male-sterile with the anthers remaining closed. However, Australian specimens examined produce pollen and seed (S.W.L.Jacobs, pers. comm. 2007).
