A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 2446, 2447 (1991) stated that Poiret did not validly make the combinations Ptilotus fusiformis and P. gracilis. However, under Article 33.1 of the 2006 (Vienna) edition of the ICBN, this name is considered to be validly published.
