A New Zealand taxon, recorded by J.L.M.Poiret in J.B.A.P. de Monnet & J.L.M.Poiret, Encycl. Method. Bot. Suppl. 4(1): 45 (1816) and J.J.Roemer & J.A.Schultes, Syst. Veg., 16th edn 4: 100 (1819), but not known to occur in Australia.
