APC Comment
Two subspecies have been recognised but they tend to intergrade, both in Australia and in their native Mexico, and are of doubtful utility. They are maintained here, but not all specimens will be able to be placed confidently in one or the other. The subspecies are not found useful or recognised in NSW.
