A reputed hybrid Eucalyptus acaciiformis x E. saligna is the basis of E. crawfordii Maiden & Blakely (Pryor & Johnson, 1971; Chippendale, 1988). Hybrids are recorded for Qld between E. quadrangulata and E. saligna and between E. saligna and E. tereticornis (Henderson, 2002). Queensland populations are treated as subsp. saligna.
