See Johnson (1962) for a discussion of Miquel's (1856) publication of E. albens (a misapplication and orthographic variant of E. pallens), and its subsequent validation by Bentham (1867). A reputed hybrid E. albens x E. porosa or E. albens x E. odorata is the basis of E. calcicultrix var. obscura (Pryor & Johnson, 1971; Chippendale, 1988). Hybrids are recorded between E. caleyi subsp. caleyi and E. albens (Hill & Johnson, 1991). A reputed hybrid E. albens x E. viridis is the basis of E. currabubula Blakely (Pryor & Johnson, 1971; Chippendale, 1988). A reputed hybrid E. albens x E. melliodora is the basis of E. melliodora var. murrurundi Blakely (Pryor & Johnson, 1971; Chippendale, 1988). A reputed hybrid E. albens x E. melliodora is the basis for E. robsonae Blakely & McKie (Pryor & Johnson, 1971; Chippendale, 1988). A reputed hybrid E. microtheca x E. albens is the basis for E. yagobiei Maiden(Pryor & Johnson, 1971; Chippendale, 1988). The first parent in the latter cross might also be E. coolabah.
