The authorship of this name is often attributed to J.Steetz, Pl. Preiss. 2(2-3): 309 (1848) but this is later than the publication by Drummond. Drummond’s text is mostly concerned with the use of the plant as a broom but still contains enough descriptive detail of leaves, stems and flowers to distinguish the species and satisfy ICN Art. 38.1 (Melbourne Code, 2012).
