Green, Flora of Australia 49: 211 (1994) stated that on Norfolk Island the name E. robusta has in the past been misapplied to this species. A reputed hybrid E. botryoides x E. robusta is the basis for E. botryoides var. lynei (Pryor & Johnson, 1971; Chippendale, 1988). A reputed hybrid E. botryoides x E. globulus subsp. pseudoglobulus is the basis of E. maidenii var. williamsonii (Pryor & Johnson, 1971; Chippendale, 1988). A reputed hybrid E. botryoides x 'E. rostrata' (=E. camaldulensis) (Trabut, 1892; Chippendale, 1988). A reputed hybrid E. botryoides x E. camaldulensis is the basis for E. trabutii A.Vilm. ex Trab. (Pryor & Johnson, 1971; Chippendale, 1988).
