- A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 1560 (1991) attributes authorship of the name Helichrysum semipapposum var. brevifolium to A.J.Ewart, Fl. Vic. 1134 (1931), but this appears to be a secondary reference to Maiden and Betche's 1916 combination, rather than an attempt to publish a new name.
