Hybridisation between Senecio minimus and either Senecio glomeratus subsp. glomeratus or Senecio glomeratus subsp. longifructus is likely (I.R.Thompson, Muelleria 19: 150 (2004)). Hybrids between Senecio minimus and Senecio odoratus and S. minimus and S. linearifolius var. linearifolius have been recorded (I.R.Thompson, Muelleria 20: 89 (2004), 21: 3 (2005)).
