- A name of uncertain placement. The epithet likely commemorates Patrick Russell (1726-1805), a Scottish surgeon and naturalist, who published on the botany of India. de Candolle's omission of the second 'l' in the epithet is treated as an error to be corrected under Art. 60.7 of the ICBN (2006).
