Possible hybrids between A. aspera and ?A. montana are known from the Whipstick, Vic (Willis, 1957; Court in Willis in Handb. Pl. Victoria, 1973; Maslin, 2001). Putative hybrids are recorded between A. paradoxa and A. montana in SA and one of these may be the basis for the erroneous record of A. menzelii in NSW (Whibley & Symon in Acacia S. Australia, 1992; Maslin, 2001).
