Vascular Plants
Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
Type:"Whroo, N.E. Victoria – Mrs. Edith Rich, October 23rd 1928. Type specimen in the National Herbarium, Melbourne."
Etymology:"I have named this new species after Mrs. Rich, who, in 1923, discovered another remarkable species of the same family—the Beardless Calochilus, C. imberbis, Rogers. Therefore, it is only right that the name of the finder of two such important contributions to Victorian Orchidaceae should be attached to one or other of them."
