Name Index 889 (1991) lists "Cyperus rotundus var. comosus (Sibth. ex Smith) K.Richter", but Richter does not indicate a rank for this taxon in his publication. The rank of form was used for this taxon by G.Kukenthal in Pflanzenr. 101: 112 (1935), and this is followed here.
