Vascular Plants
Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
Type:"Tasmania; Port Davy, Peak of Teneriffe, Frenchman's Cap, and several other mountainous situations, especially in the southern parts of the island: Backhouse MSS. (in Bibl. Hook.) and in Ross' Hobartown Almanack, R.C. Gunn, Esq."
Comment:A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 2520-2521 (1991), lists "Richea pandanifolia Gunn... nom. illeg. non J.D.Hook. (1844)". However, Gunn explicitly cites "Richea pandanifolia Hook.fil." in the caption to the accompanying plate. This is thus here considered to be a secondary reference by Gunn to R. pandanifolia Hook.f., rather than an attempt to publish a new name.
