Cyanotis axillaris (L.) D.Don ex Sweet , legitimate, scientific
Sweet, R. (1826), Sweet's Hortus Britannicus Edn. 1, 2: 430 [comb. nov.]
basionym: Commelina axillaris L. legitimate
  • Comment: Reference to basionym indirect, via Sweet's citation of this name as "Cyanotis axillaris D.P." [i.e. D.Don, Prodr. Fl. Nepal. 46 (1825)]. While Don indicates that Tradescantia axillaris (L.) L. should be placed in his new genus Cyanotis, he does not definitely associate the genus name and specific epithet as required under ICN Art. 35.2 (Shenzhen Code, 2018).
