The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. Etymology:"It is named in honour of the late Mr. Max Koch, who for more than thirty years took a very keen interest in the flora of South and Western Australia, and distributed specimens to the leading herbaria in different parts of the world. He died in 1925."
