Vascular Plants
Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
Etymology:"From Laltin, dubius, doubtful, possibly because of Brown's concern as to the correct generic classification of this species. He originally included it in Petrophile"
Comment:Foreman lists "Ispogon scaber Meisn in J.G.C.Lehmann, Pl. Preiss. 1: 506 (1845)" as a taxonomic synonym of Isopogon dubius (R.Br.) Druce, with the "type" as L.Preiss 686. Since Meisner (1845) clearly referred to Isopogon scaber Lindl. Foreman's synonymisation is here treated as a misapplication by Meisner.
