The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.

Comment: D.B.Foreman in P.M.McCarthy (ed.), Fl. Australia 16: 222 (1995), B.L.Rye & M.Hislop, Nuytsia 25: 304 (2015), and C.M.Parker & J.M.Percy-Bower, Nuytsia 27: 13 (2016), treat Isopogon spathulatus R.Br. as a nomenclatural synonym of "Isopogon buxifolius var. spathulatus (R.Br.) Benth.". However Bentham does not indicate that his name is a new combination or cite a basionym, as he does in other similar cases. Instead he places I. spathulatus in synonymy of I. buxifolius. Bentham's name is thus treated here as a new taxon based on a different type, Isopogon buxifolius var. spathulatus Benth.
