The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. Etymology:"This species is named after Mr. James Nangle, F.R.A.S., Superintendent of Technical Education, who was the first to introduce here the standard sizes for tested timber specimens, and to whom I have, for many years been much indebted for his assistance in carrying out the timber tests for the Museum."
