The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. Comment:Reference to basionym indirect (ICN Art. 41.3 (Shenzhen Code, 2018)). Brown cites "Volkameria heterophylla. Poiret in encycl. botan. 8. p. 687" [i.e. J.L.M.Poiret in J.-B.P.A. de M. de Lamarck & J.L.M.Poiret, Encycl. Méth., Bot. 8: 687 (1808)], which is itself a secondary reference.
APC Comment:Clerodendrum heterophyllum f. baueri and C. heterophyllum f. angustifolium are recognised as distinct taxa in Qld, as naturalised and native forms of this species, respectively.
