Etymology: "... is named after Walter Hill (1819–1904), a horticulturist and botanist in Queensland, who was with von Mueller when he collected the type material of S. [Seringia] hillii from the Glasshouse Mountains (Bentham 1863 [i.e. G.Bentham Sterculiaceae: Keraudrenia ‘Flora Australiensis. Vol. 1’. pp. 245–246.].
