Vascular Plants
Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
APC Comment:Some authors (e.g. J.H.Ross, Muelleria 9: 15 (1996), I.R.Thompson, Austral. Syst. Bot. 14: 44 (2001)), list the name Poiretia linearis Sm. as illegitimate. However, the name is legitimate under Art. 55.1 of the ICBN (Vienna Code (2006)). A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 2249 (1991) stated that Poiret did not validly make the combination Phusicarpos linearis. However, under Article 33.1 of the 2006 (Vienna) edition of the ICBN, this name is considered to be validly published.
