The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.

Text: "The description of this species is very brief but judging from the illustration in the protologue it could be a form of Acacia acinacea. According to G.Lawrence et al. (Botanico-Periodicum-Huntianum, 1968) the above title ended in 1877, but this is the title that appears on the volume in which A. ovata was described. It is possible that the journal may be J. Hort. Pract. Gard. because Lawrence et al. (op. cit. [i.e. Botanico-Periodicum-Huntianum, 1968]) lists 3 series and includes 1890 under this title. The author's name is unknown, except for the first initial of the surname."
