Etymology:"The specific epithet alludes to the preference of this species for lateritic soil."
Comment:The designation "Acacia lateriticola var. lateriticola" is listed by FloraBase (2003). However, this autonym had not been established as no infraspecific taxa had been published within Acacia lateriticola at the time (ICN Art. 26.3 (Shenzhen Code, 2018)).
