Vascular Plants
Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
×
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.

APC Comment:
A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 764, 765 (1991) treated Commelina anthericoides (R.Br.) Poir. and Commelina graminea (R.Br.) Poir. as invalid, and regarded the first valid combination as being made by Roem. & Schult., Syst. Veg. 1: 542 (1817). However, under Article 33.3 of the 2006 (Vienna) edition of the ICBN, Poiret’s combinations are considered to be validly published.
