Etymology: "The species is named for its first collector (at least, to our knowledge), C. H. Gittins, a retired engineer from Epping in Sydney, who has visited many out-of-the-way regions of Australia over the past ten years or so, and who has carefully and meticulously collected many specimens for the National Herbarium of New South Wales and other institutions."
