Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.

Etymology:"The type specimen of this species was collected on the Horn Expedition to central Australia at the end of the nineteenth century (see Tate [in Acacia. In: B. Spencer (ed.) Report on the work of the Horn Scientific Expedition to Central Australia] 1896). The botanical name probably commemorates E.C. Cowle, who helped with the zoological collections and was apparently regarded as an honorary member of the expedition (Hall [in Botanists of Australian Acacias p. 64] 1984)."
