Type: "The holotype (IRRI 101147) is deposited in the herbarium of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Isotypes are deposited in the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), the Philippines, and the Department of Plant Biology, University of Birmingham, England. The seed sample of the holotype specimen is registered at IRRI under the Accession No. 101147 and the cotype at IRRI under Accession No. 101146. They were donated to IRRI in 1974, with the name of O. sativa f. spontanea by an Australian scientist, Dr. E.C.B. Langfield, who collected them in a swampy locality near Darwin, Australia."
