The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.

Etymology: "Nomen veneraturus Roberti Kaye Grevillei, LL.D., botanices celeberrimi et meritissimi, operum praestantium, longè nitidissimorum auctoris, viri scientiâ aequè ac animi pietate et morum suavitate pracellentis, amici probati et dilecti, hoc genus novum appellavi. ... The tree forms a new genus in the family of Guttiferae, which I am proud to dedicate to my highly valued friend Robert Kaye Greville, Esq. LL.D., of Edinburgh, a most distinguished and acute botanist, who has enriched the science with some of the most beautiful and accurate works it has to boast of. As there already exists a Grevillea, called after a different person, I have adopted a method not unfrequently used heretofore, by designating my plant Kayea."
