The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. APC Comment:A.D.Chapman, Austral. Pl. Name Index 2846 (1991) recorded the base name for Themeda triandra var. major (Thwaites) Domin as "Andropogon ciliata var. major Thwaites" in error for Anthistiria ciliata var. major Thwaites.
