The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.

Comment: Bailey makes no reference to a basionym but cites the authorship of this name as "Linden", here presumed to be a reference to "Lonchitis ghiesbreghtii", a designation invalidly published by J.J.Linden, Cat. Pl. Exot. 12: 10 (1857), which was subsequently validated as Polypodium crenatum var. ghiesbreghtii Hook., Sp. Fil. 3 (1864). Since Bailey also fulfills the conditions for publication of the name Goniopteris ghiesbreghtii as that of a new taxon, this is here treated as a new combination by Bailey under ICN Art. 41.4 (Shenzhen Code, 2018).
