Etymology: "The epithet, coalara, refers to the soil type typical of the area (as given in Peter Tille's C.S.R.I.O. [sic] Technical report 313, "Soil Landscapes of Western Australia's Rangelands and Arid Interior", ISSN 1039-7205), known as the Coalara Soil System of the Dandaragan Plateau Zone, where this species occurs."
