  • Etymology: "The varietal epithet is Latin eruca, caterpillar, and -oides, like, resembling, in reference to the colloquial name 'caterpillar plant' used by the ecological investigators in the Pilbara region for this taxon. The cyathia are clustered on short leafy lateral branchlets, the clusters somewhat resemble a hairy caterpillar."
