Etymology: "The epithet honours the late Ms Pat Carolan who collected the type specimen of the new taxon and whofirst brought the existence of the population to my attention. She is further recognised for her contributions to the understanding of Victoria's eucalypts, having been an enthusiastic collector and having lodged numerous specimens with MEL."
