Comment: Kuntze cites this name as "Hippeastrum purpureum OK." but gives "Amarylis purp. Lam. 1783" as the intended basionym. Lamarck published the name Amaryllis punicea in 1783 and this is here treated as the basionym, with Kuntze's orthography an error to be corrected under ICN Art. 41.3 (Shenzhen Code, 2018).
