  • Etymology: "Named for Dr Kingsley W. Dixon (1954–), Director (Science) of the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority at Kings Park and Botanic Garden, President of the WA Native Orchid Study and Conservation Group 1985–86 and 1988, author and editor of many orchid publications, for his life-long interest in and enthusiasm for orchids, and his contribution to the scientific study of orchid micropropagation. Kingsley drew our attention to P. dixonii as a possible new species."
