The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. Etymology:"Named for Dr Kingsley W. Dixon (1954–), Director (Science) of the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority at Kings Park and Botanic Garden, President of the WA Native Orchid Study and Conservation Group 1985–86 and 1988, author and editor of many orchid publications, for his life-long interest in and enthusiasm for orchids, and his contribution to the scientific study of orchid micropropagation. our attention to P. dixonii as a possible new species."
