Type: Holotype. Queensland: Georgina River, Camooweal, 19 55.576'S 138 06.903'E, S. Jacobs 9332 & C.B. Hellquist, 19 Apr 2005 (NSW). Isotypes: NASC, BRI (blue-flowered specimen).

Etymology: "The species is named for the Georgina River, one of several in which it grows and the type locality."
