The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.

Type: Harrisonia loniceroides Sims
-
Etymology: "It was introduced from Brazil, by Mrs. Harrison of Ægburgh : and, unable to refer it to any described genus of Asclepiadeous plants, I am anxious to dedicate it to that lady, who has been the means of adorning our gardens with so many new plants, particularly from the territory of Brazil, and who has cultivated them with eminent success in her own collection." -
Comment: The authorship of this name and the type species, Harrisonia loniceroides Sims, are often attributed to "Hook.". As there is no internal evidence of Hooker being the author, in contrast to other taxon names published by him in the same volume where the descriptions and notes are signed "W.H.", they are here ascribed to Sims. -
Comment: nom. illeg.; non Harissona Adans. ex Léman (1821), nom. rej., nec Harrisonia R.Br. ex A.Juss (1825), nom. cons.
-
APC Comment: An American taxon, now referred to Ruehssia H.Karst., listed in synonymy of Marsdenia R.Br. by various authors, but not known to occur in Australia.
