The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.

Comment: "There has been confusion between O. minuta and O. officinalis, and the two species are sometimes treated as synonyms. O. minuta has been recorded for Australia (e.g. the O. officinalis specimens cited above [see P.G.Kodela Oryza in Flora of Australia 44A.: 364-365 (2009)] have previously been identified as O. minuta), but this species has only been found in Papua New Guinea and the Philippines, fide D.A.Vaughan & H.Morishima, Chapt. 1.2 Biosystematics of the genus Oryza, in S.W.Smith & R.H.Dilday (eds), Rice Origin, History, Technology, & Production 39 (2003); B.-R.Lu & M.Jackson, Wild Rice Taxonomy 19-20 (2004)."
