Etymology: "From the Latin, simulatus, resembling, alluding to the buds which are indistinguishable from those of E. tereticornis." -
Comment: Although isotypes are listed in the protologue as being at "AD, BRI, MEL, NSW", the label of the holotype specimen in CANB indicates that duplicates were only sent to BRI and NSW. As of September 2011, isotypes were not found in AD or MEL. -
