  • APC Comment: Chippendale (1988) treated the coolabahs under the name E. microtheca. Hill & Johnson (1994) adopted much narrower species concepts, recognising 8 species and several subspecies in the complex and many intergrades. In Euclid (2006) an intermediate approach was adopted, recognising Hill & Johnson's E. acroleuca, and E. victrix, and keeping E. coolabah and E. microtheca distinct. Hybrids between E. normantonensis and E. victrix are recorded (Hill & Johnson, 1994). Intergrades are recorded between E. victrix and both 'E. barklyensis' (=E. microtheca) and E. coolabah ('subsp. arida' and 'E. gymnoteles') (Hill & Johnson, 1994). Hybrids are known between E. victrix and E. xerothermica (Hill & Johnson, 1994).
