The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.

Comment: Robinson indicates that Morinda bracteata was validly published by Roxburgh via citation of "H.M. 1. t. 52" [i.e. the plate in Rheede's Hortus Indicus Malabaricus] in the footnote. However, Roxburgh's footnote 14 actually lists "H. A. 3. t. 98" [i.e. the plate in Rumphius' Herbarium Amboinense that depicts the species]. This constitutes reference to a previously and effectively published description or diagnosis under ICBN Arts 32.1 and 44.1 (Vienna Code, 2006).
