The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. Comment:nom. illeg., nom. superfl. as Davallia pedata Sm. was published as a superfluous replacement name for Adiantum repens L.f. The epithet repens was available in Humata in 1841 and thus ought to have been adopted by [John] Smith (ICN Art. 11.4 (Shenzhen Code, 2018)).
