Australian Plant Name Index (APNI)
The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. For a listing of currently accepted scientific names for the Australian vascular flora, please use the Australian Plant Census (APC) link above.
Comment:The specific epithet was published by Maiden as "clelandi" but it is corrected here to the epithet of the basionym Eucalyptus goniantha var. clelandiorum, in accordance with ICN Art. 60.12 and Rec. 60C.1 (Melbourne Code, 2012).
Comment:Maiden lists the species name with the notation "sp. nov." and lists Eucalyptus goniantha var. clelandiorum Maiden (1911) as a synonym. Maiden indicates that the earlier publication of the name at varietal rank was "a slip of the pen", but he also cites part of the type material of the variety as the type of E. clelandiorum. The species name is thus treated here as a new combination based on Eucalyptus goniantha var. clelandiorum rather than as a new name.
