APC Comment: A North American taxon, now referred to Vallisneria spiralis L., recorded by C.P.J.Sprengel, Syst. Veg. 16th edn, 3: 900 (1826), but not known to occur in Australia. Vallisneria spiralis is considered to have been misapplied to both Vallisneria australis S.W.L.Jacobs & Les and Vallisneria nana R.Br. in Australia.
